Is There Crabmeat in there?

I just HAD to share this with you!

As many of you already know I grew up on Long Island, (New York) where your seafood dinner just came off the boat you were watching come to dock 20 minutes before.  Summer in the Hamptons is like no other place in the world to me.  The fresh, delicious seafood, the smell of salt water right out your back door, family and friends.

So it’s no wonder I miss fresh seafood and although I’ve gotten used to living in the Mid West now and 90% of the seafood coming in frozen, I will never understand this:

I counted the ingredients.  Are you ready?  You can too if you have nothing better to do, maybe I missed one.

There is a WHOPPING 95 INGREDIENTS in that container.   95!!!    To make a crabmeat stuffing …really????

Some of the ingredients are:

  • soybean oils,
  • high fructose corn syrup,
  • hydrogenated vegetable oil,
  • hydrogenated soybean oil,
  • natural butter “flavor”,
  • sodium phosphate,
  • guar gum
  • more natural flavors
  • carrageenan
  • artificial colors

And where’s the crab?  At the VERY BOTTOM of the ingredient list.  Not the TOP where it should be, but the very bottom.

And the actual meat is extracted.  Take it from someone who knows many fisherman, if you think you’re getting the better part of that crab … think again.
