Strawberry & Banana Smoothie

Out of all the endless smoothie options in the world, strawberries and bananas seem to be at the top of the list.  Why?  Because you just can’t go wrong with that combination.   It’s a classic for sure.

It’s certainly one of our favorites in our house too.  I guess it’s also due to the fact that we always seem to have bananas and strawberries in the house.

There’s really no need to add any additional sweeteners to this smoothie because there is sweetness coming from the fruit and as we all know by now, yogurt has sugar in it as well, so this is plenty sweet enough on it’s own.

Just in case you were just on the CUSP of making this smoothie, let me further entice you with the following fun facts:

Bananas

  • Bananas float in water, as do apples and watermelon
  • Thanks to the oil, rubbing a banana peel on a mosquito bite will help with the itching
  • To whiten teeth naturally, rub the inside of a banana peel on your teeth for 2 min each night
  • A cluster of bananas is called a hand
  • If you peel a banana from the bottom side up you won’t get those stringy things

Strawberries

  • Strawberries are the only fruit that has the seeds on the outside
  • Strawberries are members of the rose family (I KNOW, right!?!)
  • California produces 80% of the strawberries eaten in the US

Strawberry/Banana Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 cup organic yogurt
  • 1/2 cup organic milk
  • 1/4 cup OJ
  • 1 organic banana
  • 16 organic strawberries hulled
  • 1 tsp organic vanilla extract
  • 1 cup ice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Put all ingredients in a blender (or Nutrirbullet) and blend until smooth.
