Ingredients
Scale
- 1/4 cup plus 2 Tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1 cup softened almond butter (by softened I mean put it in the micro for about 10 seconds to ‘loosen’ it up)
- 2 Tablespoons organic whole milk
- 1/2 cup pure maple syrup (not Aunt Jemima!)
- 1/2 cup rolled oats (not 1 min or steel cut)
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/8 tsp salt
Optional:
- 1 Tablespoon ground flax seeds
- 1/2 cup crushed or chopped nuts
- 2 or 3 Tablespoons of mini organic choc chips or carob chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325 F
- Line an 8-inch square pan with parchment paper going up the sides
- Start by processing the oats in a food processor until very fine
- Add the rest of the ingredients and pulse to combine (you can also stir the ingredients together in a bowl )
- Transfer the batter to the prepared pan and smooth out with a spatula
- If desired, press some chocolate chips into the top
- Bake for 15 minutes on the center rack – they may look underdone when you take them out, but this is okay
- Cool and cut into 12 squares
- Perfect for freezing
