- Buttermilk
- All-Purpose Flour
- Cornstarch
- Vegetable Oil (for frying)
Spices:
- Paprika

- Cayenne Pepper
- Salt and Pepper
Sauce:

HOW TO MAKE BANG BANG SHRIMP
- Start by marinating the shrimp in buttermilk, but no longer than 30 minutes, otherwise it becomes rubbery. This helps the shrimp stay tender and the coating sticks.
- While they’re marinating, mix up the flour, cornstarch, and seasonings for that crispy coating.
- Once the shrimp are ready, coat them in the seasoned flour mixture and fry them in hot oil until they’re golden and crispy. I highly recommend an easy to read thermometer for this.
- For the sauce, simply whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, honey, and rice vinegar. Man this stuff is good!
- Toss the crispy shrimp in the sauce, and garnish with a sprinkle of green onions and cilantro.

FAQs
- Is there a substitute for buttermilk?
If you don’t have buttermilk, you can make a substitute by mixing 1 cup of milk with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or white vinegar and letting it sit for 5-10 minutes. - Can I use frozen shrimp?
Yes, just make sure the shrimp are fully thawed and patted dry before marinating and coating to ensure they fry up nice and crispy. - Can I bake the shrimp instead of frying?
Yes, you can bake the shrimp. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and place the coated shrimp on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Lightly spray with cooking oil and bake for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy.
